On the third Saturday of every month, we meet for a short Bible study, fellowship and lunch.
The time to meet is at 1 pm. Generally we meet at the Plantation Road congregation in the lower level, but there are times when we do meet at dining establishments. It is announced prior so nobody will be left out. This is a time to get out of the routine some of us get caught up in life's daily challenges, and get to know other women in the congregation. By taking this time and committing ourselves to this meeting, we foster the love instructed by God.
Philippians 2:1-2; "Therefore, if there is any encouragement in Messiah, if there is any comfort of love, if there is any fellowship in the Spirit, if there is any compassion and sympathy, then fill me with joy by having the same attitude, sharing the same love, being united in spirit, and keeping one purpose in mind.
It is the desire of Plantation Road Baptist to see the women live in word and deed as the Lord has called them. These meetings provide additional opportunity to "love one another as the Messiah has loved us".
Why should we meet? Maybe I should ask it this way; why would you not want to meet and fellowship with other likeminded believers? This meeting provides additional opportunity outside of our typical Lord's Day worship service to further put into practice what we believe and then share it with other believers.
Right now we are covering the Proverbs 31 woman. We hope to cover other specific teachings for women. After all, can we really get our walk as Christian women down to a science or are we honest with ourselves and admit we have a long ways to go?
Why else is it profitable to meet as women? We meet to give older women the opportunity to teach the younger women.
Titus 2:3; Likewise, older women are to show their reverence for God by their behavior. They are not to be gossips or addicted to alcohol, but to be examples of goodness. They should encourage the younger women to be lovers of their husbands, lovers of their children, sensible, pure, managers of their households, and kind, and to submit themselves to their husbands, lest the word of God be discredited".
We meet in order to learn how to deal with our husbands- (or future husbands for the single Christian gals.) Yep! Just when ya think you have the husbands figured out they change on ya.
1Peter 3:1; "In a similar way, you wives must submit yourselves to your husbands so that, even if some of them refuse to obey the word, they may be won over without a word through your conduct as wives when they see your pure and reverent lives. Your beauty should not be an external one, consisting of braided hair or the wearing of gold ornaments and dresses. Instead, it should be the inner disposition of the heart, consisting in the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great value in the sight of God. After all, this is how holy women who set their hope on God used to make themselves beautiful in the past. They submitted themselves to their husbands, just as Sarah obeyed Abraham and called him lord. You have become her daughters by doing good and by not letting anything terrify you".
We also learn of God's word so we can recognize deceitful men who would try to invade our lives with smooth talking.
2Timothy 3:2-7; " People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, unfeeling, uncooperative, slanderous, degenerate, brutal, hateful of what is good, traitors, reckless, conceited, and lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. They will hold to an outward form of godliness but deny its power. Stay away from such people. For some of these men go into homes and deceive foolish women who are burdened with sins and swayed by all kinds of desires. These women are always studying but are never able to arrive at a full knowledge of the truth.
Our desire is to have women studying and reach a place of understanding. Women who know their Scriptures will not be vulnerable to the wolves mentioned by Paul. The purpose of the study is so that they will study and will be able to come to a full knowledge of the truth by the grace of God!
Our fellowship also revolves around other areas that only women can appreciate and/or understand. (No offense men) :-)
Please join us! Spend time getting away from the things of the world in order to get to know the God you will be spending eternity with.
Again, the third Saturday of every month at 1 PM unless otherwise announced. Please contact Pastor Ron for any questions.
